Get started now! Plan your youth summer culture camps or summer programs. Summer presents a perfect opportunity to nurture and engage your tribe’s youth, teaching them the values, interpersonal skills, and behaviors they’ll need to thrive as adults. In this hands-on class, you’ll discover how to create a fun, positive summer camp or summer program experience for children and teenagers. Come participate in exciting team-building and leadership development activities that you can use with youth, while discovering effective ways to weave culture throughout the camp.

Our Native American Education and Child Development expert, Lisa Harjo*, will teach you proven strategies for transmitting the culture of your tribe and community to coming generations, including how to create meaningful opportunities for parents, youth, and elders to share with each other. Whether you’re looking for guidance on how to establish peer mentoring and tiered mentoring programs, build parental involvement, or come up with creative ways to support and develop your youth, this class will send you home full of exciting new ideas. Each participant will make and take home leather pouches and chokers that they can later make with youth. Come ready to participate in fun and challenging Native American Games that can be used to support good sportsmanship in the youth.
